I am so excited to share that I recently had the absolute honor of sitting down with Dallas and Madison on the Good-ish Girls Podcast! If you haven’t checked out their show yet, you absolutely need to. We had the most amazing time talking all things Elemental Awakening. But the best part? We had some very special guests!
We were joined by Jessica Threet and Gabriel Michael, the brilliant audiobook narrators who brought Amara and Thane to life. Getting to share a screen with the voices behind my characters was a surreal and beautiful experience, and I am so excited for you all to hear our chat.

The Heart Behind the Magic
We really got into the deep stuff right out of the gate. I shared how Elemental Awakening was born out of very difficult personal experiences. Writing this book became my way of processing grief, taking back control, and exploring themes of empowerment. We also chatted about how my actual life coach inspired aspects of the story, my chaotic "pantser" writing process, and how much my amazing critique partners helped me pull it all together!
Tropes, Dragons, and "Captain Planet Mommy"
Of course, we had to geek out over the fun stuff! We talked about the Avatar: The Last Airbender vibes, my absolute need to include dragons, the healing power of the "Chosen One" trope, and the delicious agony of a true slow burn.
Behind the Scenes of the Audiobook
Hearing Jessica and Gabriel talk about their process was mind-blowing. They shared what it was like stepping into the minds of Amara and Thane. Jessica spoke so beautifully about navigating Amara's complex grief, trauma, and badass moments, while Gabriel gave us all the insights into capturing Thane’s stoic patience, duty, and hidden depths. They even shared some hilarious behind-the-scenes stories about their recording process (including a very funny story about a stolen water bottle at a convention!).
A Live Reading & Sneak Peeks!
You guys... Jessica and Gabriel actually did a live reading of that tense bathing scene, and let me tell you, hearing them perform it live had me blushing and swooning!
We also dropped a few teasers for Book 2! We discussed how Amara continues to step into her power, and the expanded world-building and political intrigue coming your way. Plus, we revealed that Amara's best friend, Lyra, is getting her own novella this June!
