Hi, I’m Bobbie Wirkmaa.

Romantasy author. Dog behavior professional. Fascinated by what makes us who we are.

I’m the author of the Echoes of Lumoria series, a romantic fantasy world of elemental magic, dragons, and complicated connections. I’m drawn to characters with powerful feelings and difficult choices—and to relationships that give them room to change.

I live in southern New Jersey with four dogs. For more than twenty years, I’ve worked professionally in dog behavior, sheltering, training, and dog sports. I’m also an agility competitor and a surfer.

Behavior and neuroscience fascinate me. So do trust, connection, and the experiences that shape how we respond to the world and to each other. Those interests inevitably find their way into my writing, alongside all the messy emotional things that make relationships worth exploring.

My books give those questions a world of their own. There’s magic, romance, and danger, but I’m just as interested in what happens between the bigger moments: how trust develops, what people struggle to say, and what it takes to let someone close.
